A new study has some unpleasant news for aging men. Having lots of enjoyable sex may put them at a greater risk for heart complications. The study, published in the Journal of Health and Social Behavior, looked at 2,204 people between the ages 57 to 85.
The people were interviewed again five years later, in an effort to understand how sex impacts people’s health later in life. The report authors found that men who reported having at least weekly sex were more likely to report experiencing heart problems when they were interviewed again a few years later compared to men who were not sexually active.
“Older men who found sex with their partner extremely pleasurable or satisfying had higher risk of cardiovascular events than men who did not feel so,” said study author Hui Liu, an associate professor of sociology at Michigan State University in a statement.
Women, however, did not experience any increase in heart health problems with more sexual activity. In fact, women who reported feeling highly satisfied with their sex life had a lower risk of high blood pressure years later compared to women who didn’t hold the same level of satisfaction.
Before older men give up on a healthy sexual relationship, it’s important to point out that the study only found a link between heart problems and sex, and it’s not definitive. More studies are needed to gain a clearer understanding of the benefits and risks of sex later in life, and whether the amount of sexual activity matters as people age.
Why might men have a higher risk for heart issues? While sex is shown to have health benefits, including better heart health, overdoing it late in life could be problematic, the study authors suggest. Overall, older men tend to have more sexual complications compared to younger men, and the researcher  argues that the exertion to reach orgasm could be causing heart stress. It’s also possible that medications men take to improve their sexual performance, like testosterone therapy, could be playing a role.  However the researchers did not look at this connection in the study
I recently sat down to discuss the best advice we can ever receive when it comes to career with a group of entrepreneurs last weekend and i was awed . I always go everywhere with a pen and a paper and i was able to make an article of it. Whether you are just getting out of college/university or looking to make a job switch in the new year, we’ve got you covered when it comes to tips you will want to know prior to submitting that application or heading to an interview.
1. Dress for the job you want, not the one you have. We love this quote because we all know that when you feel good about yourself, your confidence increases. This rule is a definite for when you are going to an interview and also applies for when you are seeking employment. If you are currently in a job that you dislike or are unemployed, it helps to dress in a way that will boost your self-esteem and keep you motivated to reach your goal of landing your ideal position.
2. Send thank you notes after an interview.
Handwritten notes are dying and it says a lot to go the extra mile to thank someone for their time. The extra effort shows how much you care about the job in which you are applying for, and could help you get a second interview.
3. If you do not get a job at your desired company, analyze why and keep trying.
History is full of stories about people succeeding after trying multiple times. When not hearing back from a job, really examine the whys and figure out how you can improve your chances the next time you apply. Is there a typo on your resume? Do you lack the appropriate experience? Did you apply to the position too late? Do all within your means to figure out how you can improve. For example, if you applied for a manager position and realize you might need a few more years of experience, try applying for a coordinator or assistant position to get your foot in the door. Chances are the company will notice your hard work and you will eventually get a promotion to a management position. When you are starting out, it is really about gaining experience and just getting within the company’s door. Whatever you do though, DO NOT GIVE UP, and just keep trying. A wonderful quote to live by — “Don’t get down. Get busy.”
4. If you are in college, apply for multiple internships.
Yes, definitely target companies that you dream of being a part of someday, however, apply to a wide array of companies in the same way you did for colleges. While in an educational setting, it is key to gain some sort of work experience and it is a good idea, given how competitive internships are, to give yourself as good a chance as possible to lock in an opportunity that you can put on your resume. It might not be the top company you applied for, however, it is definitely better than being without a real world opportunity to develop your skills and build contacts.
5. Do your research. Prior to an interview, be sure to have done your investigation work about the company and, if possible, who you will be interviewing with. Companies want to employ those who are passionate and knowledgeable about the company’s mission. Definitely have questions in your pocket as well, and make sure they are ones you genuinely want to ask, due to that HR can more than likely read if you are not being genuine.
6. When starting a job, do not be afraid to ask questions. There are no dumb questions and it is much better to ask for clarification on an assignment as opposed to making a mistake. Obviously, you do not want to be asking questions every minute, but there is no harm done in wanting to do your job in as clear a way as possible.
7. Maintain a positive attitude and look at every assignment as one of the most important in your career.
Whether you are getting coffee for your supervisor or giving a presentation to the board, you never know where your actions will take you on your professional journey. Even if it is a task you are not thrilled about, such as making copies, remember to keep your goal in mind and trust that the task is a stepping stone to get you where you ultimately want to go.
8. Network, network, network. And network some more.
Our team believes hugely in building your professional contacts through networking — and this starts in college, hence why internships and career fairs are very important. If there is someone you look up to within your desired industry, reach out to them and introduce yourself. LinkedIn is an invaluable tool to build your network, and there is no harm done in taking the initiative to make a connection. The only harm that can be done is to yourself if you do not take the step to try. Plus, you never know, the person you connect with might just be the one to help you land a job.
9. Have a role model. Whether it be your mom, your cousin or Oprah, have someone that you look up to and aspire to be like someday.
Having someone in mind who can help you see a path to follow will bring clarification and guidance on how to make a career happen.
10. Try not to look sideways, but ahead.
Lastly, it is very easy to get dragged down by peers who might be getting certain opportunities you want. However, firmly remember and trust that everyone is on their own path and things happen at different times for each individual. Turn the negative energy into positive and keep persevering forward. Your hard work will eventually pay off.

Drinking the tea may relieve anxiety while reducing nausea and chronic pain. Unlike smoking marijuana, the tea is not inhaled through the lungs and thus does not contain the risk of developing long-term lung problems. The cannabis plant has thin, jagged leaves that branch into five to seven fingers.

If you’ve never heard the word ‘Skoochies‘ and you claim to be ‘street’, then your street credentials needs to be re-evaluated and this story is NOT for you!

In simple terms, ‘Skoochies’ is a ‘street cocktail’ made from cannabis/weed leaves. The leaves are boiled, the shaft is sieved and the water (tea) is mixed with different solvents like alcohol, milk, sugary drinks and more.

Its popularity on the streets and among Nigerian celebrities is rapidly growing and the fact that it has health benefits as well as its sexual enhancement prowess has made it an increasing replacement for other street drinks likealomo, ogidiga, jedi-drinks and others that reigned supreme in time past.

Like smoking marijuana, drinking the tea may relieve anxiety while reducing nausea and chronic pain. Unlike smoking marijuana, the tea is not inhaled through the lungs and thus does not contain the risk of developing long-term lung problems, like emphysema. Surprisingly, cannabis tea may help treat autoimmune diseases‘.

The origin of the word ‘marijuana’ dates back to the late 19th century. It is an Americanism for the Mexican Spanish marihuana or mariguana, which is associated with the personal name María Juana. Another name for marijuana is Mary Jane, the English version of María Juana.
Cannabis tea

In Nigeria, it has became a popular drink atFela’s Shrine, but recently its popularity has spread like wild fire on the street.

According to a recent report by Life out of Alcohol and Drugs Ghana (LOAD Ghana) in collaboration with Basic Needs Ghana, ‘14.3% of Nigeria’s population of about 130 million people smoke weed in public view and boys as young as 12 years peddle it at open markets’.

So when next you see your favourite celeb holding that ‘RED’ cup, it could be skoochies! And guess what, it’s like drinking tea; you won’t smell the awful stench of alcohol.
And for the veterans correcting the spelling of ‘Skoochies’, we know it has alot of spellings (Skuchiez, Skushes, Skushies… and more) but until the word is adopted into the Oxford Dictionary, we are sticking with ‘Skoochies’.

A lot of disorders arise from not eating right and a good number of them don’t even manifest until they have caused a lot of damages. Eating right, not only help you stay healthy, it helps you psychologically and financially. Financially? Yes, as you are about to find out in this article. How Do You Know You Are Eating Right?

Observe and listen to the subtle messages sent to you by your body. Whether our body is healthy or not, we get messages from our body but often times, we don’t listen. Likewise, if we are eating right or not eating right, we get messages from our body too.
Here are five key signs to know you are eating right;

1. On Top Of Your Game All Day
Eating right gives you energy and makes you stay mentally active all-day. This is a fact and I have found this to be true by observing myself and other people in my workplace too. It is one of the reasons you should not  miss your breakfast ever again. You have enough energy throughout the day if your diet is fulfilling your needs and work requirements. Too much coffee consumption too can be implicated in this as you can have a crash or breakdown of energy towards the middle of or later on the day.

2.  You Sleep Well At Night
A lot of things, including diet can keep you awake or make you have sleeps in which you wake up frequently. When you have these kind of nights, you wake up tired in the morning. When you don’t sleep well at night, a lot of things can cause this but a good way to start checking is your diet. What kind of food do you eat in the day and towards bedtime? What is the space between the time you eat and time you go to bed? These are good questions to ask?

3. You Don’t Have Mood Swings
Yes, when you have even mood, then you can be sure you are eating right. Although, mood swings can be caused by other factors, when you have even mood, you are eating right. Having said this, when you have mood swings or anxiety and have eliminated other possibilities, or starting to check what the possibilities are, you may want to check your diet. Too much of foods such as sugar, alcohol, caffeinated coffee, etc., can cause mood swings and anxiety.

4. Always Well Hydrated
Dehydration usually results from drinking too little water in a day, thereby causing thirst, dry lips, and dry skin. Other factors that could result in dehydration include drinking too much caffeine and alcohol. Totally avoiding them is what I usually advise.

5 . You go to the toilet everyday
Not literally as stated in the title because people go to the toilet to smoke sometimes. Going to the toilet here means you actually go to the toilet to do what the toilet is designed for.
This is avery good sign you are eating right and including the right amount of fibers in your diet, they turn your bowel often and make you go do the dump.

I mentioned at the beginning of this article that eating right saves you money and yes, it is true. You are not eating right if you eat at restaurants and eateries. These foods have been implicated in a lot of conditions and food poisoning cases. Cooking at home will not only give you quality and safe food but also saves you more money.

There are some other factors or signs that you can actually look out for in order to know if you are eating right, these are just some of the ones you can easily notice.

Sex is a topic that gets everyone’s attention but what we rarely discuss is what leads to it. Some ladies are so keen on kissing till your lips fall off. While bumping noses and crashing teeth can be a major problem for kissers, there is much more than meets the eye.

Wendy Hill, Dean of the faculty and a professor of neuroscience at Lafayette College, found that couples who kissed for 15 minutes while listening to music experienced major chemical changes. Their levels of oxytocin (responsible for bonding) and cortisol (associated with stress) changed dramatically.

Kissing can dramatically improve your stress levels and health, not to mention help you snag the love of your life.
Here are five ways you can transform your kissing skills:

1. Take it Slow
Sloppy, uncoordinated kisses are normally pretty awful. You’ll get a much better response if  you allow yourself to become sensual. Start by gently kissing the object of your affection on the lips without engaging your tongue. Do this a handful of times to create anticipation and a longing for more. When things heat up, let a bit of tongue slip into their mouth. Gently rub their tongue with yours. You can also kiss around the mouth — the top lip, then the bottom lip, and see where that leads.

2. Get Vocal & Physical
Being vocal can definitely steam up a kiss.  Letting out even a tiny moan while your mouths are touching can really increase the eroticism. Don’t forget your hands too, they can make the difference between an average kiss and an awesome kiss. Slowly stroke your partner’s body–their low back, face, hair, and shoulders. Whatever feels good for you.

3. Mix It Up
When it comes to kissing, like anything, it’s best to keep things inventive. Whether it’s chewing on the lower lip, sucking their top lip, tickling ears or earlobes, or leaving a trail of soft kisses along your partner’s neck, taking the kisses for a little kiss-trip beyond the mouth is a thing of delight and passionate exploration.

4. Be Confident
A confident kisser always delivers the best results.  Be prepared with fresh breath, and the belief that you can transform the moment from so so to super-sensual. If in doubt, remember, if they’re kissing you it’s because they’re attracted to you, so embrace it. Listen to your partner’s subtle cues and know that pleasing them is the best confidence builder you can get.

Greatest part of marriage is child bearing which we know already. Like the bible says ” The children are the heritage of the Lord “. I am sure you didn’t believe I read my bible ?  Shame on you people. I am a staunch member of T.R.E.M. Akoka, a church owned by Bishop. Mike Okonkwo

That aside, After child bearing ladies always beat themselves up for the change of shape, loss of beauty, extra appetite but here are some simple ways to keep you on track.

Pregnancy changes a woman in many ways. Aside from experiencing the emotional challenges of growing a tiny person in her womb for 9 months, she will undergo physical changes in her body that may last for a while, sometimes forever. And while she sees these as but small sacrifices of motherhood, she will do anything to get her body back in shape. What can a woman do to lose weight after pregnancy?

1. Do Post-Natal Exercise
Want to get back your toned abs and perfect waist? A good post-natal exercise can help you return to your pre-pregnancy body weight faster. Post-natal exercises are usually simple exercises such as walking, water aerobics ( after your bleeding has stopped ) and light weight programs. It will also reduce back pain, leg cramps, constipation and improve your sleep. Exercise is also a good activity to improve your mood and cope with the various challenges of motherhood.

2. Give Your Body Time to Recuperate
Is it realistic or healthy to slim down right after pregnancy? The answer a big NO. Experts are strictly against diet programs or heavy exercise during post-pregnancy. Remember that your body is still in healing stage and you don’t want to rush things. You should give your body enough time to recuperate and restore normal processes. The healing stage can take up to 12 weeks or more, during this stage it’s important to avoid cutting calories and going into heavy exercises to lose weight.
3. Eat Right during Pregnancy
Just because you’re pregnant doesn’t mean you can pig out for 9 months. Don’t take the phrase ‘eating for two’ literally. According to experts, pregnant women should gain just about 15 to 35 pounds (or 6 to 15 kilograms) in the course of her pregnancy. She should also avoid too much fatty foods and sweets and get healthy alternatives for her cravings like fruits and vegetables.
Studies have found that mothers who eat too much during pregnancy increase the risk of low IQ, eating disorders and psychosis in children. It’s okay to indulge in your cravings but it’s better to exercise caution and listen to your body and know when it’s too much.

4. Breastfeed
Breastfeeding helps you shed some extra pounds that you may have gained during pregnancy. Babies who have been breastfed also tend to be healthier than those who haven’t. Since breastfeeding can make you lose about 300-500 calories a day, it’s quite important to eat extra calories during your breastfeeding period to maintain an appropriate and healthy diet.
However, just because you are breastfeeding doesn’t mean you can eat whatever you want. The best way to keep your weight in control is to have proper diet every day.

5. Get Plenty of Sleep
Babies have strange sleep cycles which make them oblivious to differences between day and night. They will doze off at odd times and become fully awake at the wee hours of the night. Sometimes they will sleep in short intervals ranging from 30 minutes to 4 hours. Because of this, a new mom may find it hard to rest. Not having proper sleep can upset your metabolism, making it twice harder to lose weight.

If you don’t have someone to take turns with you caring for the baby while you sleep, you can sleep at the same time your baby is sleeping. Even if your baby wakes up for short intervals, idle resting is a good way to keep your energy high throughout the day.

While mommy makeovers or post-pregnancy surgeries can promise a much faster shaping of your body, a good post-natal exercise is a lot safer.

As it’s summer and a lot of people are getting “beach ready” these days, here are a few words of encouragement for those that try hard but simply can’t seem to lose weight (as fast as they may like).

Deciding to lose weight – or to start exercising – is the easy part. Keeping it up week after week, month after month is where things get hard especially if you don’t see the results you want. I know, I have been through it myself. Over the years, guided by experts and determination, I have learned a few a few tips.

1. Some bodies simply lose weight slower
If you do not see results in the first few weeks, it doesn’t mean you are not losing weight. That was the lesson I learned, and even though annoying, there is nothing you can do except keep going.

2. Starting the day with a brief burst is a wonderful thing
Starting the day with a short energetic moment — climbing the stairs, that walk I just mentioned, or any other brief outing — is wonderful. It clears your mind, gets you going, and kickstarts your digestive system.

3. There are other benefits aside from weight loss
Even if you do not lose weight, there is always a benefit: you get fit. Daily exercise keeps you in great condition and you will feel healthier.

4. You can keep it fun
The worst thing you can do is choose something you don’t like simply because you think it’ll bring fast results. It won’t. You’ll do it for a week or two then give up. Choose something that works for you and that you can stick with.

5. Even walking is beneficial
Walking is key with slow burners. A short walk a day makes you happy and keeps your digestive system working.

6. You aren’t gaining weight
As long as you exercise, you are not gaining weight, which is a result in itself.

7. Variation is key
Don’t do the same exercises day in and day out. Your body will adapt to these exercises and will burn calories slower.

8. More is not always more
When you lose weight slowly, it is tempting to add more and more exercise in the hopes of losing weight faster. It does not work, it burns you out, and you’ll lose motivation. Think up a double exercise plan (preferably with the help of an expert) and stick to it.

9. You can check in with experts
If you feel you really should be losing more weight than you are, check with an expert to see if they can help you. Maybe you have been doing the wrong exercises – an expert can help you find what’s right for you.

10. Taking a day off is a good thing
Training non-stop all day every day is not good for your health, and could even lead to breaking down muscles instead of growing them. It is also mentally unhealthy to never have a day off. Your brain will enter a “there is no end to this” mode and you will start resenting exercise. Overtraining is harmful for the mind as well as the body. Take some time to rest and recover.

11. There will be results in the end
Like my friend once said ” I stuck to it, trained every day, and – despite not seeing results as quick as I hoped — found that one day my trousers kept sliding down. Then I found all my clothes were wider. Without even noticing, I had gone down several sizes. I stuck to it and eventually got results.”Patience, variation, finding the right exercises, and taking enough rest is what brings the best results for everyone. Remember: Exercising is about getting fit and healthy. As long as you achieve that, the rest will take care of itself.

I know I said 10 but couldn’t help but chip in the last one because that’s the most beautiful part of exercising. There will always be results.
