Sleeping is probably that one naturally occurring bodily function which is loved, envied and even abused by a lot of us. A few hours of sleep are pretty important when it comes to almost everything. It helps us relax, is vital for our moods, keeps our immune system in-sync and so on.

The list of benefits seems obvious, but scientists have always been intrigued to know how it REALLY helps us (because that’s what they do). Be it sleeplessness or inability to fall asleep at time, the damage is instant. But a good night sleep or even a good nap can aid you in a lot of ways.

Here are some health benefits of a good night’s sleep according to science:

1. Increased Brain Power

Increased Brain PowerThe first at foremost organ that gets affected by both irregular and just sleep patterns is the brain. After a long day, your brain needs time to recover and how does this happen? through sleep. While the brain never completely stops working, the activity levels during your slumber decrease. And If your brain doesn’t get that break, it will pretty much fry up.

According to a study conducted on zebra fish, irregular sleep patterns had visible impact on their brains and daily functioning. Since these zebra fish larvae are transparent, the scientists could see their brains while they were sleeping and were sleep-deprived.

The study concluded that without the required synapse reduction, the brain would not have the ability to continuously take in and store new information, which means that sleeping is vital for more brain power.

2. Improved Memory and Learning Abilities

Improved MemorySince the much necessary affair between the brain and sleep is being discussed, another important part where sleep acts like a hero is the memory department. A refreshed brain is bound to be more quick in picking up and processing information. Another surprising benefit, which has been discovered recently is that during sleep, your memories and “practice” skills are further strengthened.

According to scientists, if you want to learn something new, practice it a few times and sleep on it. During your sleep, your brain will consolidate all that information, thus giving you more adaptability over it. Hence, if you have always wanted to be a tennis player, chances are you will perform better at it after due practice and sleeping.

3. Better Emotional Responses

Better Emotional ResponsesIf your co-workers seems to be throwing in a random temper tantrum, be sure to ask them if they slept well because sleep and mood swings go hand in hand. Poor quality and lesser quantity of sleep both cause feelings of anger, depression, anxiety and general restlessness to erupt.

University of Pennsylvania researchers found that subjects who were limited to only 4.5 hours of sleep a night for one week, reported feeling more stressed, angry, sad, and mentally exhausted. When the subjects resumed normal 7-hour sleep pattern, they reported a dramatic improvement in their moods.

Apparently with lack of sleep, our brain can not maintain the in-build neutrality sense and our cognitive processing declines, which causes us to act differently. So if you are experiencing some random outbursts, be sure to sleep on it first.

4. Improved Physical Health

Improved Physical HealthWith the heart and mind of the way, let’s talk about physical body. There is no big science in knowing that good sleep yields a positive effect on the body. Poor sleep affects your brain, your moods and obviously your physical well being. In many researches, health conditions like high blood pressure, obesity and cardiovascular diseases have been linked to poor sleep.

Scientists believe that in the pyramid of health, exercise and nutrition have a rightful partner, and that is sleep. For instance, several studies have shown that people who reported sleeping fewer than five hours per night were at a increased risk of having or developing type 2 diabetes. On the positive end, studies have also found that improved sleep can positively influence blood sugar control and reduce the effects of type 2 diabetes. In short, your sweet sleep can give your body the break it needs and combat with health issues too.

5. Getting Muscles is Easier

This one is for the guys who work hard to get those muscles popping. Let’s put it this way- if you don’t sleep, you won’t build any muscle. This is because when you sleep, your body goes into recovery mode. This causes all the tears in the muscles to repair and heal the damage done. The sores you feel are the indication of damage done to the muscle(which heals overtime).

Secondly, as you sleep on, your body releases growth hormone which causes growth (of course). This is why you see babies sleep for 12-18 hours for they are growing . There’s a reason why all the fitness experts recommend getting proper sleep and 5 days of workout, and now you know why.

6. Helps in Maintaining Weight

Just like your growth, the adequate rest plays an important role in regulating metabolism and related hormones. The scientific reason behind this apparent weight gain that occurs when one is sleep deprived is the presence of excess Ghrelin.

Ghrelin is the hormone which makes us want to eat. When one is sleep deprived, the hormones level fluctuate, due to affected performance of the brain, which causes Ghrelin to go up. As a result, we tend to eat more when we are tired. Plus, the more you stay awake the more energy you need. So basically the next time you stay up all night, understand that your body is not craving “food” but sleep.

7. A Longer and Better Life

A Longer and Better LifeScientifically, every segment of the human population has their own range of healthy sleeping hours. For instance, in case of babies, 12-18 hours of sleep is needed by their bodies, in case of teenagers 8-9 hours and so on. While these are the normal and needed hours of rest, anything above and below this is dangerous and can lead to premature death.

A lengthy study conducted over a period of 25 years, in the UK revealed these astonishing facts. According to the observations made, those who slept for less than 6 hours were 12 percent more at a higher risk of experiencing premature death. Similarly, for people sleeping more than 8-9 hours, the number was found to be 30 percent. Researchers also claimed that people who changed their sleeping time, by reducing it to five hours to less were 1.7 times more likely to die due to unknown causes.

8. Beauty Sleep is for Real

Beauty Sleep is for RealIt’s true, the more soundly you sleep, the more beautiful you will be. This is because of the body’s ability to heal while its on rest mode. Just like other parts of the body, as you sleep on your skin tends to heal itself too. The skin undergoes many changes including producing more collagen, which means less wrinkles and more repair. The blood-flow causes the face to appear more fresh while busting the dark circles away.

And it is not just the skin, if you get yourself the rightful rest that you deserve, you will actually note how your hair changes overnight too! Hair loss, breakage, damage and growth all get affected by lack of sleep, which is worsened by the addition of cortisol (the hormonal word for STRESS). When you sleep, the cortisol levels decrease, the blood flow goes up and your hair get the nutrients it needs to repair and grow.

With all the in-depth benefits of sleep jotted down, it’s time to get yourself to relax and snooze off. Although many people suffer from sleeplessness, but mostly its because of our own behaviors (and smartphones). Time to give up the blue light and get some good Zzz’s.

Read his article below…

President Muhammadu Buhari wants to intervene in The Gambia to prevent a breakdown of law and order which will lead to a humanitarian crisis. The Gambia has a population of 1.8 million people, while Kaduna has a population of 6 million people of which over 2 million of those are in Southern Kaduna.

Till date, the only person who has died in The Gambia is President elect Barrow’s son, Habibu Barrow, who was bitten by a dog. But in Southern Kaduna, hundreds of people have bitten the dust.
If in truth President Buhari really wants to prevent a humanitarian crisis, the place he should be visiting and intervening in is Southern Kaduna before The Gambia.
And the penchant of the President to delegate pressing domestic problems to his subordinates while personally addressing foreign challenges of lower priority is on the increase.
I have chosen to empathize with the Buhari administration over the deaths of Internally Displaced Persons and international aid workers at the Rann IDP camp in Borno state by a bomb mistakenly dropped on the camp by a Nigerian Air Force Jet, but for the life of me I cannot understand why the President, who heavily criticized former President Jonathan’s handling of the Boko Haram crisis, elected to delegate his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, and some ministers to visit the victims and survivors of the Rann disaster to offer condolences and supposed support.
And to the Borno state governor who cheekily said there was progress because in his words there was no “blame game” as would have happened in the previous administration of Jonathan, I would just say, wake up and smell the coffee. I can see no excuse for this faux pas except the Borno state Governor is sarcastically trying to call out the Buhari government for its over indulgence in blaming previous administrations.
If it was possible, the Buhari administration would have taken out a registered trade mark on the phrase ‘blame game’. Never in the history of Nigeria, and perhaps contemporary Africa, has an administration invested so much of its focus and time on blame gaming as the Buhari government. So Governor Shettima would have to pull more fallacious words out of his mischievous magical hat of illusions to be able to pin such a false accusation on the Jonathan Government.
It may be necessary to remind Governor Shettima that the Jonathan he so likes to blame visited Borno more than once as President during the height of the Boko Haram insurgency. Has President Buhari even bothered to drop by? That is how much the President thinks of him!
But in all this, we still must give God the glory that the mistake by the air force did not occur while Oby Ezekwesili and Lai Mohammed were combing Sambisa forest in search of the missing Chibok girls.
And let me speak directly to the President. President Muhammadu Buhari, as Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, don’t you think you owe it as a duty to be in Rann at this very moment to personally comfort victims and survivors of the unfortunate mistaken bombing by our Armed Forces?
This is more so when some of the dead include qualified doctors who left their countries, homes and profitable businesses to volunteer through Doctors Without Borders and the Red Cross.
If those foreigners could leave their countries to go to Rann, sir, you can leave Aso Rock to go there. This bombing is not your fault, but if you fail to visit Rann where lives have been lost, you will send a very wrong message particularly as you just visited The Gambia where no lives have been lost accidentally or deliberately due to Yahya Jammeh’s actions.
Why President Buhari Ran(n) to Gambia and ran away from Rann would continue to be a mystery for a while. But the truth still remains that you do not focus on putting out the fire in your neighbor’s tiny hut when your own massive estate is on fire.
In Nigeria’s history no President has engaged in foreign travels like President Muhammadu Buhari yet never before has foreign investment dried up in Nigeria as it is today.
So bad has the situation degenerated to that Reuters, in a piece by Paul Carsten and his colleagues published on January 18, 2017 detailed how President Buhari’s globetrotting efforts to secure foreign loans have hit a brick wall.
The article cited failure to present a coherent economic recovery program as the reason why foreign donors are wary of trusting the Buhari administration with their hard earned money.
In fact, the article posited that the government of President Muhammadu Buhari has been forced to work with a “consultancy” to patch together a policy document that it hopes would be acceptable to foreign lenders.
Now, Nigerians can understand why I questioned the wisdom in the appointment of a polytechnic graduate by President Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria’s finance minister at a time when we should be putting our best foot forward. The finance minister, Kemi Adeosun, attended the University of East London. The problem is not that this university is one of the worst universities in the United Kingdom today. The issue is that the ‘university’ was actually a polytechnic at the time Kemi Adeosun attended it and was only upgraded to university status in 1992! If you Google this university, you will find that it’s graduates are one of the least likely to get a job on the strength of their degree of any university in the United Kingdom.
I guess the guidance and counseling department of the University of East London should by now have found a fix for this problem-if you cannot find U.K. employment with your UEL degree, just relocate to Nigeria. Chances are you would be made a cabinet minister!
The funniest thing is that when President Buhari ran against then President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2003 one of his prominent campaign posters had the promise and I quote “what we will not do-spend 110 days in a year globetrotting”. As I write this and as you read it, President Muhammadu Buhari has globe-trotted all the way to London. In fact, by his first anniversary as President on May 29, 2016, President Buhari had made 30 foreign trips with very little by way of returns to the country from them. So much for his promises. Would the President be man enough to apologize to former President Obasanjo who was the subject of his particular criticism in 2003? Your guess is as good as mine!
So my advise to the President is that he should spend less time blaming past administrations especially as he is now more guilty than them of the things he accused them of.
I give this advise because I am aware that each time President Muhammadu Buhari blames previous administrations, what foreign and domestic investors see is a leader who loves the perks and privilege of his office but hates the responsibility attached to it. They see a ruler who likes to bask in the glory of his predecessors achievements like the Abuja-Kaduna rail and the Treasury Single Account, yet refuses to give them any credit. And they will not invest their money in a country whose leader focuses on blaming instead of leading. Blame is the cause of the Naira losing value not falling oil price. An economy can survive a price crash but it cannot survive a crash in leadership.
Now, on to other matters. Two weeks ago I commended the President for fulfilling at least one of his campaign promises. By this I meant the promise to pay ₦5,000 to the poorest Nigerians. Again I commend the President. However, since I gave my commendation I have gotten some feedback.
It would seem that many Nigerians are not impressed by the ₦5,000 handout from the APC led Federal Government because they are already on their own fulfilling President Buhari’s campaign promise of one meal per day because food is too costly and kerosene to cook it is too expensive!
If you are still talking of gas then you must be a super elite because the price of gas has skyrocketed beyond belief! From a price of ₦1,800 for a 12.5kg cylinder of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) under former President Jonathan the price is now ₦4,200 under President Buhari and rising.
Under former President Jonathan, Nigeria had many fast rising political, business music and acting stars but under President Buhari the only thing that is fast rising is the price of food, electric, gas, petrol, kerosene and dollars! What a fast rising government!
And it seems Nigerians also misunderstood the President’s promise to make ₦1 equal to $1. It was perhaps a typo. The printer probably forgot three zeros. He may have meant make ₦1000 equal to $1!
And the President’s promise to be fair to all Nigerians is now sounding hollow although the fault is not entirely his. State governments have their own fair share in the blame although one could argue that they took their cue from the President’s body language especially after his famous ‘97% versus 5%’ speech at the United States Institute for Peace in July of 2015.
Today (Wednesday 18th of January, 2017), the police brought Joachim, the man who named his dog Buhari, to court for prosecution. This is the same police that has not yet prosecuted any of the killers of hundreds of Southern Kaduna people. This is the same police that last week released the suspected killers of Mrs. Elisha, the RCCG pastor killed in Kubwa. We are not even talking of the suspected beheaders of evangelist Bridget Agbahime who were acquitted in Kano two months ago. As I always say, welcome to the new and improved Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari!
In the new and improved Nigeria, you are more likely to be prosecuted if you misname a dog and if you steal or kill cattle than if you kill or behead a Christian Evangelist or pastor.
This is even as a Governor admits to paying self admitted foreign killers of Nigerian citizens with tax payer funds to induce them not to kill again. Again I say, welcome to the new and improved Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari!

The first few minutes at the office can be the most stressful because there’s a level of anxiety about what you may face: A sudden onslaught of urgent emails; last-minute crises or meetings; a call to stop by the boss’s office; a cranky coworker, and so on. It takes greater self-awareness, a positive mindset, and self-training each morning to counter what feels like negative gravity pulling you down as you face overwhelming demands. Successful people tend to thrive on routine and habits.
Creating consistent habits is largely what makes them successful and a key time for habit-forming practices is at the start of the day.”
Here are 13 things the most successful people do in the first 10 minutes of their workday:
1. They reflect
Achieving your best results requires you to reflect on where you’ve been, where you are, and where you’re going. Successful people build in quiet time and solitude to do this first thing. They ask themselves: ‘What did I accomplish toward my goals so far this week — or last week?’ ‘What is the status of my current project?’ ‘What do I need to accomplish today in light of this?’”
2. They get comfortable
Successful people take a minute at the beginning of the workday to make sure their chair is adjusted properly and the items they frequently access — keyboard, phone, computer mouse — are all in comfortable reach. Ensure that you have proper lighting, your day will go well if you have an ergonomic environment that’s functional.”
3. They organize their workspace area
Not being able to find things is a huge office time waster. So while you may pride yourself on jumping into the fray with no down time, clutter will catch up to you. Facing a clean or cleaner slate on your desk and desktop will better clear your mind for the day’s tasks.
4. They stretch, stand, and walk
Successful people make sure to stretch and get their circulation going before they get into a sedentary sitting position. Consider walking or standing in the first few minutes of your workday. This can give you a feeling of greater control, too, as you tackle the day’s agenda — much as speakers establish authority by standing before their audience.”
5. They review their to-do list and prioritize
Get yourself current on priorities and tasks. Go beyond just making a list, and challenge yourself to create a realistic hierarchy for your projects. It’s vital to put the most important tasks first. Though the least desirable but critical projects are easy to put off first thing in the morning, your energy is strongest then, so that’s the ideal time to confront the most difficult assignments.
6. They visualize success
By envisioning the positive outcomes of various projects at hand, you can work backward and determine the necessary steps to get your desired results. This helps them remember the need to stick to the plan and focus on the things that are truly important and not simply urgent. Mentally running through the day “can also help you see where potential challenges may lie with how you’ve scheduled your day, so you can make the necessary adjustments,” Kerr says.
7. They adjust and map out their day
Successful people review their calendars to assess if anything needs changing or rearranging with how their day is planned and to see if there’s any preparatory work that might need scheduling in before a call or meeting.
8. They anticipate distractions
We all face some of the same distractions at the start of the day, and recognizing them is the first step to mitigating them. These may include low-priority calls, unnecessary optional meetings, chatty coworkers, new incoming emails or texts, social media, or other low-priority notifications — all of which challenge you to focus on your day’s plan.”
9. They say “no”
Successful business professionals know how to mitigate distractions to maximize their first few minutes at their office. They can diplomatically and politely say ‘no’ to colleagues by offering to engage at a later time. If your boss needs you, that is clearly an exception. However, if you have crucial calls to make or meetings to attend, give your boss the heads-up. Being a people pleaser isn’t good for anyone, Generally, no one ends up being pleased, as you can’t do your best work with conflicting priorities.”
10. They block out negativity
Successful people don’t dwell on any challenging events that occurred the previous night or on the morning commute, or other frivolous thoughts. “Compartmentalize by putting them in a separate ‘box’ as you start your week,” Taylor says.
11. They take a temperature read of their staff/coworkers
Strong managers take a moment in the morning to talk briefly with their staff to ensure they seem engaged and motivated. “At a glance, these savvy professionals can often get a cursory reading of the energy level and job satisfaction of their staff,” Taylor says. “If things seem awry, they are best tackled later on in the day.”
12. They smile and laugh
Many successful people I know have a routine of starting their morning with a simple chuckle — whether it’s from a ‘joke of the day’ email they subscribe to, or some tradition they’ve created to give themselves a chance to laugh each morning. Starting their day with a smile has become a must-do for them as a simple way to check their attitude and start with the right frame of mind.
13. They take a moment to be grateful
A great way that successful people start their day is to identify something they’re grateful for, and it may be personal or business-related,” Taylor notes. “It’s motivational and reminds them to put small things in perspective.
A new study has some unpleasant news for aging men. Having lots of enjoyable sex may put them at a greater risk for heart complications. The study, published in the Journal of Health and Social Behavior, looked at 2,204 people between the ages 57 to 85.
The people were interviewed again five years later, in an effort to understand how sex impacts people’s health later in life. The report authors found that men who reported having at least weekly sex were more likely to report experiencing heart problems when they were interviewed again a few years later compared to men who were not sexually active.
“Older men who found sex with their partner extremely pleasurable or satisfying had higher risk of cardiovascular events than men who did not feel so,” said study author Hui Liu, an associate professor of sociology at Michigan State University in a statement.
Women, however, did not experience any increase in heart health problems with more sexual activity. In fact, women who reported feeling highly satisfied with their sex life had a lower risk of high blood pressure years later compared to women who didn’t hold the same level of satisfaction.
Before older men give up on a healthy sexual relationship, it’s important to point out that the study only found a link between heart problems and sex, and it’s not definitive. More studies are needed to gain a clearer understanding of the benefits and risks of sex later in life, and whether the amount of sexual activity matters as people age.
Why might men have a higher risk for heart issues? While sex is shown to have health benefits, including better heart health, overdoing it late in life could be problematic, the study authors suggest. Overall, older men tend to have more sexual complications compared to younger men, and the researcher  argues that the exertion to reach orgasm could be causing heart stress. It’s also possible that medications men take to improve their sexual performance, like testosterone therapy, could be playing a role.  However the researchers did not look at this connection in the study
I recently sat down to discuss the best advice we can ever receive when it comes to career with a group of entrepreneurs last weekend and i was awed . I always go everywhere with a pen and a paper and i was able to make an article of it. Whether you are just getting out of college/university or looking to make a job switch in the new year, we’ve got you covered when it comes to tips you will want to know prior to submitting that application or heading to an interview.
1. Dress for the job you want, not the one you have. We love this quote because we all know that when you feel good about yourself, your confidence increases. This rule is a definite for when you are going to an interview and also applies for when you are seeking employment. If you are currently in a job that you dislike or are unemployed, it helps to dress in a way that will boost your self-esteem and keep you motivated to reach your goal of landing your ideal position.
2. Send thank you notes after an interview.
Handwritten notes are dying and it says a lot to go the extra mile to thank someone for their time. The extra effort shows how much you care about the job in which you are applying for, and could help you get a second interview.
3. If you do not get a job at your desired company, analyze why and keep trying.
History is full of stories about people succeeding after trying multiple times. When not hearing back from a job, really examine the whys and figure out how you can improve your chances the next time you apply. Is there a typo on your resume? Do you lack the appropriate experience? Did you apply to the position too late? Do all within your means to figure out how you can improve. For example, if you applied for a manager position and realize you might need a few more years of experience, try applying for a coordinator or assistant position to get your foot in the door. Chances are the company will notice your hard work and you will eventually get a promotion to a management position. When you are starting out, it is really about gaining experience and just getting within the company’s door. Whatever you do though, DO NOT GIVE UP, and just keep trying. A wonderful quote to live by — “Don’t get down. Get busy.”
4. If you are in college, apply for multiple internships.
Yes, definitely target companies that you dream of being a part of someday, however, apply to a wide array of companies in the same way you did for colleges. While in an educational setting, it is key to gain some sort of work experience and it is a good idea, given how competitive internships are, to give yourself as good a chance as possible to lock in an opportunity that you can put on your resume. It might not be the top company you applied for, however, it is definitely better than being without a real world opportunity to develop your skills and build contacts.
5. Do your research. Prior to an interview, be sure to have done your investigation work about the company and, if possible, who you will be interviewing with. Companies want to employ those who are passionate and knowledgeable about the company’s mission. Definitely have questions in your pocket as well, and make sure they are ones you genuinely want to ask, due to that HR can more than likely read if you are not being genuine.
6. When starting a job, do not be afraid to ask questions. There are no dumb questions and it is much better to ask for clarification on an assignment as opposed to making a mistake. Obviously, you do not want to be asking questions every minute, but there is no harm done in wanting to do your job in as clear a way as possible.
7. Maintain a positive attitude and look at every assignment as one of the most important in your career.
Whether you are getting coffee for your supervisor or giving a presentation to the board, you never know where your actions will take you on your professional journey. Even if it is a task you are not thrilled about, such as making copies, remember to keep your goal in mind and trust that the task is a stepping stone to get you where you ultimately want to go.
8. Network, network, network. And network some more.
Our team believes hugely in building your professional contacts through networking — and this starts in college, hence why internships and career fairs are very important. If there is someone you look up to within your desired industry, reach out to them and introduce yourself. LinkedIn is an invaluable tool to build your network, and there is no harm done in taking the initiative to make a connection. The only harm that can be done is to yourself if you do not take the step to try. Plus, you never know, the person you connect with might just be the one to help you land a job.
9. Have a role model. Whether it be your mom, your cousin or Oprah, have someone that you look up to and aspire to be like someday.
Having someone in mind who can help you see a path to follow will bring clarification and guidance on how to make a career happen.
10. Try not to look sideways, but ahead.
Lastly, it is very easy to get dragged down by peers who might be getting certain opportunities you want. However, firmly remember and trust that everyone is on their own path and things happen at different times for each individual. Turn the negative energy into positive and keep persevering forward. Your hard work will eventually pay off.

I cannot emphasise how much ladies wished men knew these things, even the best of men fail to understand some of ladies’ basic needs. These things are no big deal but life would be so much better if men knew them.

1. Don’t pretend to listen
Don’t just pretend to listen to what we have to say. We talk to you because we trust you and sometimes we just need moral and emotional support. It’s very disappointing when we are fretting about something and you have nothing to say except, ‘huh’ indulge in the conversation it makes us feel loved and special.

2. Pamper us when we are sick
Please make us feel cared for when we are sick. We know that you are very concerned when you say, ‘take your medicines and go to sleep, I’ll handle everything else’ but that’s just not enough, we need your attention. Treat us like a little baby when we not well.

3. Hear her out
We understand that you guys have though job and it’s hard to be all charged up when you get home after a tiring day. The thing is we have been working all day long too and we love you and there is no one in the world we would rather talk too. Us, women, need to vent out so please, listen to what we have to say. It would mean so much to us.

4. Help out in the house
Yes we know you have a job but we get tired of going through the same routine over and over again. Help us out around the house once a week; on weekends we really need a break!

5. Run errands
Help us run errands, don’t be selfish. Throw the trash out, pick up groceries, drop the children to school the list goes on. Just help us out a bit, trust me if you had to manage a job and a house you would appreciate us a whole lot more!

6. Share the load
Let us help you out, morally, financially and emotionally. Let us support you, there is no shame in asking your partner for help when you need it.

7. Don’t be a baby
You know you will always be our baby, but don’t be a baby all the time. Most of the time, we need aman. A fully functional grown man, who can take his own decisions and has the strength to take initiative, you know we will always be there to spoil you

8. Surprise us
Some times, just some times, do something amazing and surprise us. It doesn’t have to cost a lot of money, it about the thought you put into bring a smile on our face.

9. Don’t lie
Sh*t on the bed sheet and tell us, we can live with that, but don’t lie. Not only is it extremely immoral to tell lies. It makes us question the status of our relationship with you. It makes us feel guilty fro not giving you enough space and damages the bond of trust we share with you, so don’t just don’t lie.

10. Don’t think we are stupid
We are not stupid, just because we are women things are no different. Honestly, we deal with much more than you guys do. So respect us and our decisions.

11. Don’t sleep on the living room couch
You are heavy and it’s hard to wake you up once you are asleep and impossible to physically move you. We need our teddy bear to hug us and make us feel protected every night. It’s the best feeling in the world.

12. Leave space on the bed
Leave some space in the bed for us, we exist too you know. Sometimes we seriously consider pushing you off the bed.

Drinking the tea may relieve anxiety while reducing nausea and chronic pain. Unlike smoking marijuana, the tea is not inhaled through the lungs and thus does not contain the risk of developing long-term lung problems. The cannabis plant has thin, jagged leaves that branch into five to seven fingers.

If you’ve never heard the word ‘Skoochies‘ and you claim to be ‘street’, then your street credentials needs to be re-evaluated and this story is NOT for you!

In simple terms, ‘Skoochies’ is a ‘street cocktail’ made from cannabis/weed leaves. The leaves are boiled, the shaft is sieved and the water (tea) is mixed with different solvents like alcohol, milk, sugary drinks and more.

Its popularity on the streets and among Nigerian celebrities is rapidly growing and the fact that it has health benefits as well as its sexual enhancement prowess has made it an increasing replacement for other street drinks likealomo, ogidiga, jedi-drinks and others that reigned supreme in time past.

Like smoking marijuana, drinking the tea may relieve anxiety while reducing nausea and chronic pain. Unlike smoking marijuana, the tea is not inhaled through the lungs and thus does not contain the risk of developing long-term lung problems, like emphysema. Surprisingly, cannabis tea may help treat autoimmune diseases‘.

The origin of the word ‘marijuana’ dates back to the late 19th century. It is an Americanism for the Mexican Spanish marihuana or mariguana, which is associated with the personal name María Juana. Another name for marijuana is Mary Jane, the English version of María Juana.
Cannabis tea

In Nigeria, it has became a popular drink atFela’s Shrine, but recently its popularity has spread like wild fire on the street.

According to a recent report by Life out of Alcohol and Drugs Ghana (LOAD Ghana) in collaboration with Basic Needs Ghana, ‘14.3% of Nigeria’s population of about 130 million people smoke weed in public view and boys as young as 12 years peddle it at open markets’.

So when next you see your favourite celeb holding that ‘RED’ cup, it could be skoochies! And guess what, it’s like drinking tea; you won’t smell the awful stench of alcohol.
And for the veterans correcting the spelling of ‘Skoochies’, we know it has alot of spellings (Skuchiez, Skushes, Skushies… and more) but until the word is adopted into the Oxford Dictionary, we are sticking with ‘Skoochies’.

A lot of disorders arise from not eating right and a good number of them don’t even manifest until they have caused a lot of damages. Eating right, not only help you stay healthy, it helps you psychologically and financially. Financially? Yes, as you are about to find out in this article. How Do You Know You Are Eating Right?

Observe and listen to the subtle messages sent to you by your body. Whether our body is healthy or not, we get messages from our body but often times, we don’t listen. Likewise, if we are eating right or not eating right, we get messages from our body too.
Here are five key signs to know you are eating right;

1. On Top Of Your Game All Day
Eating right gives you energy and makes you stay mentally active all-day. This is a fact and I have found this to be true by observing myself and other people in my workplace too. It is one of the reasons you should not  miss your breakfast ever again. You have enough energy throughout the day if your diet is fulfilling your needs and work requirements. Too much coffee consumption too can be implicated in this as you can have a crash or breakdown of energy towards the middle of or later on the day.

2.  You Sleep Well At Night
A lot of things, including diet can keep you awake or make you have sleeps in which you wake up frequently. When you have these kind of nights, you wake up tired in the morning. When you don’t sleep well at night, a lot of things can cause this but a good way to start checking is your diet. What kind of food do you eat in the day and towards bedtime? What is the space between the time you eat and time you go to bed? These are good questions to ask?

3. You Don’t Have Mood Swings
Yes, when you have even mood, then you can be sure you are eating right. Although, mood swings can be caused by other factors, when you have even mood, you are eating right. Having said this, when you have mood swings or anxiety and have eliminated other possibilities, or starting to check what the possibilities are, you may want to check your diet. Too much of foods such as sugar, alcohol, caffeinated coffee, etc., can cause mood swings and anxiety.

4. Always Well Hydrated
Dehydration usually results from drinking too little water in a day, thereby causing thirst, dry lips, and dry skin. Other factors that could result in dehydration include drinking too much caffeine and alcohol. Totally avoiding them is what I usually advise.

5 . You go to the toilet everyday
Not literally as stated in the title because people go to the toilet to smoke sometimes. Going to the toilet here means you actually go to the toilet to do what the toilet is designed for.
This is avery good sign you are eating right and including the right amount of fibers in your diet, they turn your bowel often and make you go do the dump.

I mentioned at the beginning of this article that eating right saves you money and yes, it is true. You are not eating right if you eat at restaurants and eateries. These foods have been implicated in a lot of conditions and food poisoning cases. Cooking at home will not only give you quality and safe food but also saves you more money.

There are some other factors or signs that you can actually look out for in order to know if you are eating right, these are just some of the ones you can easily notice.
